Pay attention to profanation, blasphemy, and false gods

Pay attention to profanation, blasphemy, and false gods

When I saw Rio de Janeiro’s towering and iconic Christ the Redeemer statue defiled with a “VACCINE SAVES” message—worst of all, as if the Lord Himself were delivering the message to the world—I literally gasped. The depth and breadth of the hubris that it takes to plaster this ungodly message on the true Savior’s chest left me (and millions of others) stunned, shaking, sorrowful. It’s hard to look at, and one wonders at the patience of God in staying His hand. “United by the vaccine” is the sub-message, another shocking inversion of Truth.

Jesus saves, not “vaccine.”
We are united by Jesus, not by “vaccine.”

To use Our Lord as a prop, a backdrop, or a billboard for an injection that only exists due to harvesting the body parts of murdered children (and no, that is not true of Tums and aspirin) is unconscionable. One writer noted that “it is astounding that anyone could think God will actually bless such crimes by allowing them to save humanity.” This sickening light-show projection onto Our Savior is surely profanation, because to profane is to take something holy and make it common. And it is surely blasphemy, because to blaspheme is to insult or show a lack of due reverence to God Almighty, the saints, and holy things.

I recalled the Rio blasphemy when on Sunday we were treated to more of the same. Kathy Hochul, the culturally-Catholic governor of New York, preached to a group of Christians that God Himself wants everyone to be vaccinated. Here are the words of pro-abortion and pro-sodomy Hochul, on what “God” told her in prayer:

We are not through this pandemic. I wished we were, but I prayed a lot to God during this time and you know what? God did answer our prayers. He made the smartest men and women, the scientists, the doctors, the researchers— he made them come up with a vaccine. [The vaccine] is from God to us and we must say, thank you, God. Thank you…. I know you're vaccinated, you're the smart ones, but you know there's people out there who aren't listening to God and what God wants. You know who they are.

I need you to be my apostles.

Let’s be discerning here. If the god Hochul consults also confirms her in her pro-abortion and pro-sodomy views and advocacy, then her god is not the Christian God. In fact, her god (or whatever dark spirit speaks to her) is an enemy of the One, True God.

The finishing touch of her spirit-channeling comes when Hochul instructs the non-denominational Protestant congregation to be her apostles. Yes, her apostles. Here she imitates (mocks) Jesus Christ Himself, as she tells her false apostles to “go out” in the world and “talk about it”—i.e., spread the good news. Clearly, Hochul’s “progressive,” woke apostles are not to spread the Christian Good News, namely the eternal salvation of repentant souls through Jesus’ atoning death on the Cross. Rather, Hochul’s secular good news is the temporal salvation of bodies through the Covid vaccine.

What does this sound like? It sounds like a man-made, worldly religion. It sounds (to me, at least) like what is described in Catechism #675 (emphasis mine):

The persecution that accompanies [the Church’s] pilgrimage on earth will unveil the "mystery of iniquity [sin]" in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth.

A false religion will seem to offer desperate man a solution to his problems. False gods with false prophets and false promises. To continue the Catechism paragraph: “The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.”

In both these instances of Rio de Janeiro and Kathy Hochul, God and His Messiah have been displaced by man—who has glorified himself and his inventions, claiming the power to “save” himself and the world.

The Covid cult is real, and spiritual in nature—but its spirit is demonic, spilling over with profanation and blasphemy while promising a salvation it cannot deliver.

However, in His mercy, God has made discernment easier than ever, as evil exposes itself so overtly all around us. Shouldn’t anyone who loves Christ be able immediately to see and hear the lies and deception in the photo and the video above? Let’s all wake up and reject the obvious false gods and man-made idols that currently bombard us at every turn.

No vaccine or bureaucrat can save you.

Only Jesus saves.
